Projects - Hofmobiliendepot Wien

The Imperial Furniture Museum is one of the most interesting museums in Vienna. Originally established to preserve Empress Maria Theresa's Habsburg furniture, the Imperial Furniture Museum grew to have the world's biggest furniture collection. Today the collection not only provides a unique insight into the imperial living environment but also gives an overview of the Austrian furniture design's development in the 20th century.

Since 2005, Walking Chair has developed various exhibitions for the museum. An original Walking Chair is part of the permanent collection since 2009, a HTLT Chair (High Tec — Low Tec No 23) is part of the permanent collection since 2013. The Hofmobiliendepot shows in the non permanent exhibition section a blue Monte Bello sofa system and our Animal Farm furniture: the Albino Dragon.

We love the museum, the people involved, and the wonderful collaboration with curator and academic director Ilsebill Barta. With the courageous combination of both historical and new elements, great exhibitions come about, which don't have to dread international competition. Its hidden location makes the museum an insider's tip even though its quality deserves much larger publicity.
